Delete your Weenja account

You can delete your Weenja account in the app or on this page. Below you can see what we delete, what we keep, and for how long.

Delete in the app

Fastest
  1. Open the Weenja app and sign in.
  2. Tap You at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap Settings & privacy.
  4. Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
  5. Choose a reason, type DELETE, and tap Delete.

Delete from this page

Enter the phone number of your Weenja account. We will send you a 6-digit code by SMS to check that the number is yours.

No code? Codes only go to numbers that have a Weenja account. You can also delete in the app, or email supportteam@weenja.co.ug from the email on your account.

Changed your mind? Restore my account

Within 30 days

Deleted your Weenja account in the last 30 days? Enter its phone number. We will send a 6-digit code by SMS, and your account comes back.

After 30 days a deleted account cannot be restored. Accounts closed by Weenja for breaking the rules cannot be restored here: request a review instead.

What happens after you delete

  1. Right away

    • You are signed out on every phone and computer. Nobody can sign in to the account.
    • Your profile and gigs are hidden. People can no longer find you or order from you.

  2. The next 30 days

    • If your account has an email address, we email you reminders.
    • Changed your mind? Restore it yourself within the 30 days: sign in to the Weenja app with your phone number, or use Restore my account on this page.
    • If you still have an open order, the 30 days pause until the order is finished or cancelled.

  3. After 30 days

    • We permanently delete your account and your data, except the records in "What we keep" below.
    • After that, your account cannot be brought back.

What we delete and what we keep

What we delete

  • Your profileName, photo, username, headline, about, skills, location and birthday.
  • Your gigs, portfolio and statuses
  • Your photosProfile photos, AI headshots and other pictures you uploaded.
  • ContactsThe phone contacts you let the app use to find friends.
  • Your chatsYour copy of your chats. Messages you sent to other people stay in their chats, like on any messaging app.
  • Your settingsSaved gigs, notification and privacy settings.

What we keep, and for how long

  • Orders, payments, wallet and withdrawal recordsAmounts, dates and order details. Kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • ID verification recordsYour ID details and the result of the check. Kept for as long as the law requires.
  • Safety and fraud recordsReports, bans and protected (scrambled) records of phone numbers, ID numbers and devices linked to accounts banned for fraud. Kept to stop banned accounts coming back, and for as long as the law requires.
  • Safety face checkIf your photo did not match a banned account, the face data was already deleted. A match is kept for up to 24 months.
  • Account recovery papersIf you sent ID or other papers to recover a restricted account, they are deleted 12 months after our decision.
  • A basic record of the accountName, phone, email, username and sign-up date, to handle disputes, fraud and legal requests. Kept for as long as the law requires.
